Rev. Rodrigo Fernández, Executive Director of the Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute, has been elected National President of the LCMS Hispanic National Convention; the announcement was made during the organization’s national convention held recently in Irvine, California.

The convention marked the 100th anniversary of Hispanic ministry within The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). Rev. Fernández, who previously served as National Vice President, will now lead the national body for a four-year term.

“I receive this new responsibility with humility and a deep sense of dependence on the Lord,” said Rev. Fernández. “I trust that He will provide the wisdom, strength, and grace needed to serve His Church faithfully. To Him alone be all the glory.”

Rev. Fernández, who serves within the Texas District, credited the district’s leadership and investment in ministry development for helping prepare him for this new role.

“This opportunity is not only a personal calling, but also a reflection of the leadership, encouragement, and support I have received through the Texas District,” Fernández said. “The District has invested in leaders, encouraged ministry, and provided opportunities to serve, and I am grateful to be one of the leaders who has been shaped through that investment.”

Rev. Fernández will continue his role as Executive Director of the Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute alongside his new national responsibilities.
