In May, Pastor Rob Bailey of South Lake Church had the joy of commissioning a passionate team of newly trained evangelists who completed the Texas District Evangelist Training Series. Each of these individuals brings a unique gift and heart for sharing the Gospel, reflecting the diverse ways God is moving through His people in the community and beyond.
Andre Renschen – “The Neighbor-Knocker”
Have you ever met a guy who walks like he’s got time for people? That’s Andre. While most of us wave from behind the garage door, he’s ringing doorbells and shaking hands. His neighborhood’s not just a place it’s his community. TV living room become sacred space. He’s not throwing a program at people. He’s throwing presence. Reminds me of Jesus in John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and moved into the neighborhood.” That’s Andre: incarnational ministry with a lazy boy.
Mark Brynstead – “The Teacher in the Screen”
Mark’s teaching circle is a webcam. His students? Scattered, but not disconnected. While others were hitting mute, Mark was hitting “record” and the Spirit hit hearts. Whether it’s a Bible study on Romans or a prayer time for a hurting family, he turns pixels into presence. Hebrews 10:25 says don’t neglect meeting together and Mark’s showing us it’s not about geography, it’s about gathering in Jesus’ name. He’s got a click for that.
Amber Heryford – “The Hallway Herald”
Amber’s not just walking into schools, she’s walking into strongholds. Her devotional moments are like little Acts 2 revivals at the copy machine. She’s not loud, but she’s lit. And where two or three are gathered before the bell rings, Christ is showing up in force. And she’s raising up the next leader too, which sounds a lot like 2 Timothy 2:2: “Entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.” Amber’s not just showing up. She’s sending.
Jim Simpson – “The Signal Booster”
Jim’s never chasing the spotlight he’s wiring it. He’s the guy dreaming five moves ahead on how the Gospel gets from South Lake to someone scrolling at 2am. And he’s got the scars from every social media comment to prove it. But he’s doing what Paul did in Acts 17 stepping into the marketplace of ideas, naming Jesus, and making Him known. That’s not marketing. That’s mission.
Jim Arbit – “The Ministry MacGyver”
You may not see him on the stage, but check behind the curtain, under the tent, or around the snack table and Jim’s there. Holding the rope. Running the cables. Praying with a volunteer. Cleaning up before anyone notices the mess. 1 Corinthians 12 talks about the parts of the body that seem weaker being “indispensable.” That’s Jim. He’s the duct tape in the Kingdom and God’s using him to hold more than just events together.
Together, this commissioned group represents the vibrant, multifaceted mission of the Texas District—each member uniquely gifted, each voice essential in carrying the Good News to their communities and beyond.
