How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns. (Isaiah 52:7)

The Texas District gives thanks to God for the evangelists who bring the good news of Jesus to people who may not feel comfortable yet walking through church doors. Since 2017, over 230 everyday Christians have been trained and sent as evangelists to engage the disconnected, build relationships, and invite people to hear the saving Gospel. These are the brave women and men of God who bring good news, who publish peace, who bring good news of happiness, who publish salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’

They are members of local congregations who respond to the voice of the Holy Spirit, inviting them to reach those who are far from God. Under the care and support of their pastors, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they bring the Gospel into neighborhoods, workplaces, parks, and homes—places where Jesus meets people through meaningful relationships and personal conversations.

The goal is simple: that more people might come to know Jesus and be connected to His Body, the Church. This is the heartbeat of the Great Commission:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always” (Matthew 28:19-20).

Jesus uses Evangelists to build bridges to the Body of Christ. Many people today are searching for spiritual truth, but don’t yet know where to find it. Jesus uses Evangelists to help them take that first step by listening, loving, and sharing the hope they have in Jesus. Their role is to prepare the way so that those who are disconnected or hurting can encounter Christ and be welcomed into a local congregation, where they can be nurtured through the Word and Sacrament.

At the 2025 District Convention, the Texas District joyfully adopted Resolution 01-01-25 to celebrate and continue this work. In 2024 alone, 54 evangelists completed their training, and more than 80 are currently being equipped. This ministry answers the prayer of the Church: “Lord, send workers into Your harvest.”

And so, with joy and gratitude, the Texas District resolved to:

  • Give thanks for the leaders and trainers who support this ministry,
  • Celebrate the evangelists and the new faith communities forming around Christ,
  • Encourage congregations to identify and send new candidates,
  • And commit to praying for those who are sharing the love of Jesus every day.

Dear friend, maybe you’ve felt that gentle tug on your heart—the desire to help someone connect with Jesus.

He is still calling. He is still saving. He is still sending. And He promises to be with us always.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of pastors, evangelists, everyday disciples, the Body of Christ! who bring good news, who publish peace, who bring good news of happiness, who publish salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns’.
