The Texas District announces that Wayne Cranfill was formally sent into service on January 11, 2026, during worship at First Lutheran Church in Texarkana, Texas, after completing Evangelist Training.
Wayne was sent by his pastor, Rev. Scott Sundbye, together with Laura Sanders, Texas District Area B Lead Evangelist Trainer, affirming both congregational and district support for his evangelistic calling.
Drawing on his professional background as a certified financial planner and his personal experience as a caregiver, Wayne brings a multifaceted approach to his role as an evangelist. His initial outreach will include offering Bible study at a local retirement center, where his friend and wife reside. From this ministry, Wayne hopes to expand into offering caregiver workshops addressing financial, spiritual, and legal topics.
Through these efforts, Wayne envisions the potential growth of a faith community in which caregivers provide mutual encouragement, support, and care centered on God’s Word. His purpose is to reach the unchurched, renew a love for Scripture, and allow the Holy Spirit to do His work in making disciples.
The Texas District Evangelist Training equips leaders for outreach, disciple-making, and mission engagement across the District. Wayne’s sending reflects the ongoing commitment of congregations to meet real community needs with compassion, wisdom, and the hope of the Gospel.
