On Sunday, August 18, Beautiful Savior in Austin had two guest speakers from LINC Austin. Haleh and Kevin Kersten shared information about LINC Austin, a network of churches and organizations that strives to build a strong community in the Austin area, by providing authentic relationships and holistic care for those who are hurting and in need of the healing love and hope of Jesus Christ.
The following Sunday, Beautiful Savior in Austin had its Rally Day. The church truly rallied together to make it a success. Inspired by the servant event held at the Texas Church Extension Fund Conference, Beautiful Savior had their own servant event benefitting LINC Austin. The congregation collected various items at the suggestion of LINC Austin. The donations included water, drink mix packets, mosquito repellent bands, wet wipes, deodorant, granola bars, and hand sanitizer. These items will be used to minister to the people who LINC serves.
This wasn’t the first time the church had rallied together to support LINC Austin. Haleh had previously mentioned that the organization was low in food staples. As part of Beautiful Savior’s Vacation Bible School, they held a food drive. Donations of instant mashed potatoes, Hamburger Helper, canned chicken and tuna, rice, cereal, and HEB or Walmart gift cards to purchase perishable items were brought in. There was a wonderful outpouring of support from the VBS children, which came at a time when LINC was in short supply of food.
As an added bonus to Beautiful Savior’s Rally Day, the church received $250 from Thrivent as part of their Thrivent Action Team. It was truly a day to celebrate and serve, and the church looks forward to the many ways in which they can support LINC Austin.
