On February 16th and 17th, 26 people gathered in Belton, Texas, for a two-day prayer gathering. The group consisted of individuals aged 15 to 70, including pastors, teachers, evangelists, mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, grandparents, and teenagers. The main goal was to enter into the presence of Jesus and pray for cities and nations and the lost. During the gathering, the group also prayed into Revelation 2:29, “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Before the gathering, the group was encouraged to read the book “Forgotten Power, A Simple Theology for a Praying Church” by David Butts. The group gathered for evening and morning prayers, followed by discussions based on the book and what they sensed the Spirit was saying. The time was filled with prayer, fellowship, food, and spirit-filled conversations.

While the group hopes to stimulate more of these types of gatherings district-wide, there were a few simple next steps discussed that anyone could take:

– Ask Jesus for forgiveness from prayerlessness.
– Ask Jesus to teach you how to pray.
– Ask Jesus to send you a prayer partner.
– Be on the lookout for where the body is hurting or someone is hurting, and pray for them.
– Ask the Holy Spirit to help in waiting and consistency in prayer.

One couple, who are in the early stages of church planting, shared about their time at the prayer gathering:
“There are not strong enough words in the English language to convey how thankful my wife and I are that we were invited to the prayer gathering. God moved MIGHTILY! He helped us SEE what we could not see. He helped us TRUST when we were growing weak. He helped us LET GO of so many useless things. He helped both of us HEAL, but especially my wife from her recent wounds. He prepared us for what comes next.”
