2022 Pastors Conference – Respond, Recover and Rebuild
At one time or another, most of us have been awakened by some sort of alarm: a smoke detector, a tornado siren, or the ringing of a midnight phone call. It takes only seconds for our hearts to begin pounding and our brains to move into high gear. Even in the case of a false alarm, it can be challenging to “return to normal” and fall back asleep.
Since the beginning of 2020, it seems we have responded to an ever-increasing number of alarms. We have been repeatedly jolted into an elevated state of readiness. As the time between alarms is compressed, many of us find it more and more difficult to slow our heart rates and experience true rest.
It is appropriate that we carve out sacred space and time in which we might help one another Respond, Recover, and Rebuild. Together we intend to quiet our hearts in order to hear Jesus whisper, “Peace, be still.”
