Who’s Listening? Preaching in Our Time Christian preaching requires listening—not only by hearers of sermons, but also by preachers. As preachers, we listen to the Scriptures through careful biblical exegesis. We also listen to our hearers through careful cultural exegesis. Because Christians are constantly facing new challenges, pressures, and opportunities, preachers are always students of their hearers and the culture in which they live. During this convocation we will (1) take a close look at several cultural trends and how they affect our hearers, (2) explore emerging themes in current homiletical theory, and (3) listen to and discuss several exemplary sermons from local pastors—all for the sake of faithfully preaching Christ in our time. Rev. Dr. Dean Nadasdy & Rev. Dr. Peter Nafzger will be presenters. For more information and to register.
