Oct 1 all-day
The first Sunday in October is traditionally set aside for the observation of LWML Sunday, but it may be celebrated at any time. Written by Rev. Dr. Lawrence R. Rast, Jr., President of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana. A full worship service is available for download. “Run for the One” Lutheran Middle School State Cross Country Meet
“Run for the One” Lutheran Middle School State Cross Country Meet @ Marion Sansom Park
Oct 28 all-day
Preparations have begun for the 2017 LMSCC (Lutheran Middle School State Cross Country Meet). LMSCC will be held October 28, 2017. Races will be run at Marion Sansom Park in the city of Fort Worth on the day of our meet. The LMSCC is a meet for Lutheran schools in Texas. There is not a Division One and Division Two format. There will be an Open division and a Varsity division. Details for the Varsity division- All teams will start on the same starting line. Each team will consist of your best 7 runners grades 6-8 boys and best 7 runners grades 6-8 girls. These should be your best 7 runners from your entire cross country program competing the day of. Medals will be given to our top 10 individual competitors. Trophies will be awarded to our top 3 teams with the highest scoring totals. Your 7 runners will be competing for individual and team state championships. Details for the Open division- All runners will start on the same starting line. This division is open for your runners in grades 5-8 in your cross country programs. This division will run the same course prior to the Varsity division races. We will follow the same format as the Varsity division with a girls race first and then boys following. If in the event there is a limited number of runners in this division for either sex, we will collapse the race into one large race. Ribbons will be given to the top finishers in their respective races. The distance for our races will be a 2 mile loop. The course consists of wide open hills, to rocky bike trails, with a flat straightaway finish. This course will very likely be the most challenging course your student athletes will face all season. The course is well developed, cared for and recognizable for the athlete to run on. Elevation changes, vegetation, and varied surfaces will be the setting for a state championship test of fitness. It is advised to walk the course prior to the race for strategy and acclimation. We will have four races. An open division girls race and the open division boys race to follow. We will have a Varsity division girls race and then the Varsity division boys race. There will be a 30 minute time cap for each race. Your varsity team of 7 should consist of boys and girls enrolled in 6th-8th grade only. If your school has a condition to where 5th grade student athletes are needed for a varsity team- a hardship application may be sought. All rosters are to be completed on the excel file and emailed to Josh Christian by October 13th, firstname.lastname@example.org Hard copies of rosters sent by mail or fax will not be accepted. Please fulfill this request because it is a huge time saver when it comes time to do the program. T-shirts can be purchased on-site from Lone Star Event Apparel. The meet logo will be included on the T-Shirts. Check in is at 8:00am. We will have a rolling start schedule with first race beginning at 9:00am. Final[...]
